Chengtan High School is a school directly
under the County Educational Bureau. It was founded in 1876 with
the original name Woxi School. Since its foundation, this school
has brought up tens of thousands of qualified graduates. There is
no lack of elites among them, for instance, Lu Zhitao, an academician
of Engineering Sciences of China, Yang Liuqing, father of the kinescope
in China, who are well known to the world. Now there are 37 classes
and more than 2500 teachers and students
The school's motto is Virtues, Diligence
and Sturdiness and it always sticks to the developmental strategies
of Establishment with spirits, prosperity with research, improvement
with innovation and management with laws. The school has formed
its own operational notion of all for students' development and
has shaped a new learning mode, whose general idea is cognition,
society, research, skills and physical and mental development. Also
the school has established an effective management system in which
both knowledge and resources are shared.
The aim of the school is to bring up students
to be ones with national dignity, innovative spirit, world outlook
and international communicative ability. By renewing its notions
in time and exploring in a courageous way, the school has established
its Eight Series of Education which is suitable for students' development,
resulting in a group of innovative discipline-instructional modes.
In recent years, the school has been among the best schools in Shaoxing
in graduation and college entrance examinations and all kinds of
competitions. Four students of liberal arts from this school got
the first place of the county, and one of physical education got
the first place of the province in college entrance examinations.

The reconstruction project of Chengtan High
School was started on July 4th, 2001. The new campus covers 14 hectares
and has a floor area of 57966 m2. There will be 48 classes, which
is the standard scale of a national key school. The construction
will be completed at the end of 2002. At that time, there will be
a modern, top-class, stylistic school with an ecological campus
in which people, learning and environment are in perfect harmony.
